WAKEFIELD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Optikos is excited to announce the release of its Long Wave Infrared Static Target Projector (LWIR STP) in its Meridian® lineup of production-ready camera testing solutions.
For over 40 years, Optikos has been a pioneer in metrology testing products and services for lenses and cameras. Meridian® STPs are fixed-focus optical target projectors that provide distant virtual objects for accurate image quality testing of cameras in compact spaces, suitable for both development and production environments. The LWIR STP is designed specifically to meet the needs of the burgeoning transportation thermal camera industry, although it is also applicable for testing small aperture LWIR cameras across all sectors.
STPs are designed to provide a seamless user experience and minimize the effort required to begin testing. Like its counterparts in the visible and NIR ranges within the Meridian® STP family, the LWIR STP projects a virtual object from a fixed distance using a remotely controllable illuminator. Additionally, the LWIR STP provides an onboard interface that allows users to set the source temperature locally, eliminating the need for a remote computer. A key feature of the LWIR STP is its interchangeable collimator barrels and target assemblies, which enable users to customize the projector according to the camera under test.
“The design and release of our LWIR STP reflect the demands of our customers,” said David Imrie, Chief Technology Officer at Optikos Corporation. “We’re observing an increased amount of testing in the long wave infrared spectrum—especially in the automotive and transportation industries—as camera systems in vehicles become more sophisticated. Modern cars are expected to provide autonomous safety for their drivers in challenging conditions, where LWIR cameras are crucial for providing critical information. With our decades of experience in testing LWIR imagers for defense clients, it was a natural progression to apply our expertise to the automotive LWIR imaging market. Our LWIR STP is specifically designed to measure these systems and provide camera manufacturers with fast and precise qualification of their systems on the manufacturing line.”
The LWIR STP is part of a series of focusing target projectors that can operate as a stand-alone unit, or as part of a configured Meridian® Starfield system for high-throughput camera testing in manufacturing environments. Companies worldwide rely on the accuracy and speed of Meridian® camera testing systems in their production processes, and the LWIR STP is a significant addition to the product line.
Optikos will be exhibiting the LWIR STP at AutoSens USA on May 21-23 at Huntington Place, Detroit, MI. To learn more about Optikos solutions, see contact details below.
