COXX Automotive Predicts December 2022 US Auto Sales

PHOTO

Happy Wednesday to all the newly minted soccer / football / soc-ball / whatever fans out there who have been glued to their televisions trying to determine the nuance of an 'offsides' call. A big win for Team USA yesterday. On to the knockout rounds we go. (We're boxing now?) When will the journey for Team USA end? Good question, but this we know: We'll tune in Saturday, pint close at hand.

We also know November is coming to an end and 2022—the year of tight inventory—is in its final hours. In a forecast release posted Monday, our team shared expectations for improved new-vehicle sales and strong gains versus year-ago results, thanks in part to growing inventory levels. Indeed, when it comes to new-vehicle supply, there is light at the distant end of the tunnel.

What the auto market looks like when we emerge from this tunnel is as uncertain as USA vs Netherlands on the pitch. And that (the new market, not the World Cup) will be the topic of Cox Automotive Industry Insights 2023, our annual January conference call. Please plan to join us Thursday, January 12, at 11 am ET for a review of auto industry performance in 2022 and a look ahead at what we expect the market movers will be in 2023. It'll be a worthwhile event: RSVP hereAnd if you really want your fill that week, join the quarterly Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index call on Monday, January 9.

As we brace for the final month of 2022, we want to thank you again for your interest in Cox Automotive. As always, if you're looking for insights or data, reach out. We'd be happy to help.

Cheers,

Mark Schirmer
