EPA restores California’s Clean Air Act waiver as advocates call on state leaders to set stronger electric vehicle sales targets Sacramento, Calif.â??? —In response to the Environmental Protection Agency reinstating California’s 50-year-old authority, granted by the Clean Air Act, that allows the state to set stronger-than-federal tailpipe pollution standards, California’s business, labor, health, environmental justice and climate advocates are calling for 100% of all cars, buses and truck sales to be zero emission by 2035. The advocates listed below are calling on California to accelerate the adoption of 100% ZEVs in order to reduce our dependence on volatile fossil fuels and dramatically reduce climate and air pollution while at the same time creating and growing jobs in EV manufacturing, EV charging and the complementary EV service economy.
