Power 2021 U.S. Initial Quality Study^SM (IQS). The study, now in its 35^th year, examines problems experienced by purchasers and lessees of new 2021 model-year vehicles during the first 90 days of ownership. Initial Quality is determined by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100), with a lower score reflecting higher quality. When:  Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021, from noon-1 p.m. EDT. The study results will be posted to www.jdpower.com/business at noon EDT. Why: There are 15 states in which auto manufacturers must grant J.D. Power permission to survey their owners, and all manufacturers aside from Tesla have granted such permission. Therefore, J.D. Power will not officially rank Tesla alongside the other auto brands. However, for a second consecutive year, J.D. Power has calculated a national IQS score for Tesla based on a sample of surveys from owners in the other 35 states and this score will be provided in this year’s study.
