DOE Vehicle Technologies Office $162 million, for SuperTruck 3 and Low GHG funding opportunities

The Department of Energy's Vehicle Technologies Office announced<https://www.energy.gov/articles/doe-announces-162-million-decarbonize-cars-and-trucks> $162 million in federal funding today to improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions among cars, trucks, and off-road vehicles. The two funding opportunities are "SuperTruck 3" and "Low GHG Vehicles Technologies," and they will help put the U.S. on the path to reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Additionally, these FOAs will:

* Reduce emissions from medium- and heavy-duty vehicles including a range of approaches to electrification-all-electric, plug-in hybrid systems using renewable biofuels, and hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, including hybridization strategies such as fuel cell range extenders.

* Explore community-level electric vehicle (EV) demonstrations, EV infrastructure and charging, and advanced engines and fuels that reduce emissions.

* Require applicants to demonstrate the actions they will take to support people from underrepresented groups, advance equity, and encourage the inclusion of individuals from these groups in the project.
