The 1499 GT Special Edition pays tribute to the iconic 1275 GT from 1969 while the MINI Countryman Oxford edition offers unique value proposition

Woodcliff Lake, NJ,  October 23, 2020. MINI USA is proud to reveal two new special edition models that are attainable and uniquely positioned across the spectrum of customer appeal – the new 2021 MINI Cooper 1499 GT and the new 2021 MINI Countryman Oxford Edition. While the MINI Cooper 1499 GT is a tribute to the iconic Mini 1275 GT and pays homage to MINI’s heritage, both the 1499 GT and the MINI Countryman Oxford Edition create an immense value proposition for consumers and MINI enthusiasts alike.
 
Heritage, performance and value all in one
The MINI Cooper 1499 GT celebrates the brand’s rich heritage with a nod to one of the best known sporty classic Minis of all time, the Mini 1275 GT, also known as one of the most affordable performance cars of 1969. The MINI Cooper 1499 GT features an exclusive, bespoke look that captures the elusiveness of the Mini 1275 GT, with a stealthy Midnight Black Metallic exterior paint and distinctive gold 1499 GT side stripes. The finish features Piano Black grille frame, door handles and headlight rings surrounding LED headlights supported by Fog Lights, as well as Piano Black taillight rings surrounding the Union Jack LED taillights.
 
The exterior style is also accentuated by the MINI John Cooper Works styling package with John Cooper Works front and rear bumpers, side skirts, split level spoiler and door entry plates, normally reserved for the John Cooper Works variant of the 2 Door Hardtop. The MINI 1499 GT also comes standard with 17” Track Spoke Black wheels wrapped in all-season tires.
 
Meanwhile, under the hood, the MINI 1499 GT comes standard with a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine that delivers 134 hp and 162 ft-lbs. of torque that goes 0 – 60 mph in 7.5 seconds and has a top speed of 130 mph. To top it off, the MINI Cooper 1499 GT comes standard with a third pedal to help operate the 6-Speed Manual Transmission. For those interested in two pedal driving, there is an optional 7-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission.
 
On the interior, the MINI Cooper 1499 GT features John Cooper Works Sports seats in Carbon Black Dinamica/Cloth, a John Cooper Works steering wheel in perforated leather with Chili Red stitching and multi-function controls, along with Piano Black finishing throughout the interior with an Anthracite Headliner. The MINI Cooper 1499 GT also features Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control, a 6.5” Touchscreen Navigation Package with MINI Assist eCall, Remote Services, Apple CarPlay and a Dynamic Digital Instrument Cluster.
 
The MINI 1499 GT will be offered with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $27,040 plus an additional $850 Destination & Handling fee.
 
MINI Countryman Oxford Edition
MINI’s most versatile model, the MINI Countryman, which appeals to a wider range of customers, is available in the Oxford Edition as both a Cooper and Cooper ALL4 variant with all the MY 2021 updates announced in May 2020.

This special edition comes with all the standard equipment of the Classic Trim, which includes leatherette upholstery, 8.8” display with Bluetooth, rear camera and rear park distance control, 7-speed dual clutch transmission and a panoramic sunroof., the Countryman Oxford Edition also gets LED Headlights and Fog Lights and Union Jack LED Taillights as standard thanks to the MY 2021 update the Countryman in May
 
On top of that, the MINI Countryman Oxford Edition comes standard with upgraded 18” wheels in either Silver or Black with Run Flat Tires, anthracite headliner, heated front seats, automatic climate control, and a choice of six exterior colors, including metallic paint options. They include British Racing Green IV metallic, Midnight Black metallic, White Silver metallic, Moonwalk Grey metallic, Chili Red, or Island Blue metallic. Exterior options also include body color roof and mirrors, or choice of a contrast white or black roof and mirror combination.

The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the 2021 MINI Cooper Countryman Oxford Edition is $26,500 and the 2021 MINI Cooper Countryman ALL4 Oxford Edition is $28,500. Pricing excludes the $850 Destination & Handling fee. This means the MINI Countryman Oxford Edition is specially configured with $5,600 worth of optional equipment as standard at no additional cost.
 
Other MINI Special Editions
MINI has long and rich history created customized, bespoke special editions that appeal to likeminded MINI owners and enthusiasts, including the recently announced MINI Paddy Hopkirk Edition, the MINI Coral Red Edition and the MINI Sidewalk Edition Convertible. Other popular special editions over the years have included the MINI John Cooper Works Hardtop International Orange Edition and the MINI John Cooper Works Knights Edition.
