CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Sept. 24, 2019) - On Friday, Oct. 11, the inaugural Chattanooga
MotorCar Festival, Presented by DeFoor Brothers, Sponsored by Volkswagen of America,
will open its doors to the public in Chattanooga's West Village for a Street Party
and the public unveiling of Volkswagen's new Atlas Cross Sport.
Gates will open at 5 p.m., with the Street Party, featuring live music by The Malemen
Show Band, food, drinks and more, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Later in the evening, the
public will have an opportunity to see, for the first time, the stylish five-seat
version of the mid-size SUV that went on sale in the U.S. in 2017 as a seven-seater.
The production vehicle will be built alongside the seven-passenger Atlas and the
Passat sedan at the Volkswagen Assembly Plant in Chattanooga and will go on sale
in early 2020. Like the successful Atlas seven-seater, the Cross Sport will be available
with 4Motion all-wheel drive and either a V6 or a turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
"This is a great chance for everyone to see the new Atlas Cross Sport that is built
right here in Chattanooga, and to celebrate the first Chattanooga MotorCar Festival
to be held in this city," said Byron DeFoor, founder of the Festival. "We invite
everyone to join us in West Village and check out Volkswagen's latest vehicle."
"We are really excited that the first public appearance of the Atlas Cross Sport
will be in Chattanooga's West Village, following its Global Reveal to the media
at the factory," said Mark Gillies, Senior Manager, Product and Technology Communications,
Volkswagen of America. "The Chattanooga MotorCar Festival is a great opportunity
for us to showcase the vehicle in its own backyard."
