CHEVROLET TO BRING 2020 CORVETTE TO ROAD AMERICA AUGUST 1-4.

First-ever, mid-engine 2020 Stingray is the fastest, most powerful entry Corvette and will be located at the Chevrolet display in the paddock

ELKHART LAKE, Wis., July 31, 2019 - The IMSA Road Race Showcase at Road America will have the distinction of being one of the first sites in the world to host the 2020 Corvette Stingray - the first mid-engine Corvette in Chevrolet's history. Following its highly anticipated reveal July 18, the Corvette Stingray will be on-site as the Corvette Racing team competes in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship's GT Le Mans (GTLM) category Aug. 2-4 at Road America.

The sum of everything that came before it, the 2020 Stingray is re-imagined to bring customers new levels of performance, technology, craftsmanship and luxury. "Road America is an ideal place for us to display the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray," said Ed Piatek, Corvette Chief Engineer. "So many of the advancements that Corvette has brought to market can trace their roots back to Road America, including the original Stingray race car. We are excited for fans of Corvette and IMSA to see the 2020 Corvette Stingray at Road America, and I'm especially excited, because I grew up nearby and even raced go karts here in high school."

The new mid-engine layout gives the 2020 Stingray:

* Better weight distribution, with the rear weight bias enhancing performance in a straight line and on the track.

* Better responsiveness and sense of control due to driver positioning closer to the front axle, almost on top of the front wheels.

* The fastest 0-60 time of any entry Corvette ever - under three seconds when equipped with Z51 Performance Package.

* A race car-like view of the road due to lower positioning of the hood, instrument panel and steering wheel. Excellent forward sightlines throughout the vehicle for both driver and passenger.

* An enhancement of Corvette's traditional utility strengths, with dual trunks for a total of 12.6 cubic feet of cargo volume, ideal for luggage or two sets of golf clubs.

The 2020 Stingray's exterior has a bold, futuristic expression with mid-engine exotic proportions, but it is still unmistakably Corvette. It's lean and muscular, with an athletic sculptural shape conveying a sense of motion and power from every angle. Corvette has always represented iconic American design, performance, technical ingenuity and attainability. The entry 2020 Stingray continues that tradition as a no-compromise value proposition, as it will start under $60,000.

The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray goes into production at GM's Bowling Green Assembly in late 2019.

"Road America was the site of the very first Corvette Corral. We have the iconic Corvette Bridge, and a tremendous atmosphere with acres of viewing at America's National Park of Speed. We are extremely proud to showcase the new 2020 Corvette Stingray this weekend."

Corvette fans are encouraged to check out the Corvette Corral at Turn 3 or pre-register online for the special Corvette Parade lap on Sunday at 9 a.m. Everything for the IMSA Road Race Showcase begins on Thursday with test sessions from 10:05 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. There will be open karting all weekend at the CTECH Manufacturing Motorplex plus the Road America Disc Golf Course will be available. There will also be a free Family Fun Zone for Children age 12 and under on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Turn 1. All children must be with parent or guardian.

Practice and qualifying takes up the majority of the day on Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:40 p.m. A special IMSA driver Fan Forum will be held at the Tufte Center (below the Paddock Shop) beginning at 1 p.m. Road America will also be hosting its Most

Awesome Campsite Contest over the weekend. Judging takes place on Saturday night with announcement of the winner on Sunday. Winning campsite and campers receive free tickets of their choice and a campsite to a 2020 Road America event. All campers can also stay until Noon on Monday.

Saturday is an action packed day full of world-class racing. The feature race will be the Michelin Pilot Challenge at 4:05 p.m. Practice and qualifying for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race fills the afternoon on Saturday as the best sports car racers in the world will be looking to get a good starting position for Sunday. Earlier on Saturday the IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup will host its first race of the weekend at 11:30 a.m., then at 2:05 p.m., the Lamborghini Super Trofeo takes to the track. The IMSA driver Autograph Session will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. near Victory Lane.

Sunday is just as exciting as Saturday with the second IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge race in the morning at 9:40 a.m. Fans will have plenty to look forward to throughout the day with autograph sessions at the team transporters from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., parade laps, and a chance to get up-close to the cars along pit lane as part of the grid walk from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. before the afternoon action begins.

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship hits the twists and turns of Road America at 1:35 p.m., with some of the best sports cars and drivers in the world looking for a win on the revered 4-mile, 14-turn road course.
