Los Angeles, California – (July 10, 2019) – Kruse GWS Auctions, the world-record-breaking  Hollywood and music memorabilia auction house, announces a historically significant sale taking place on Saturday, August 31, 2019. The “Artifacts of Hollywood?? auction begins at 10:00 a.m. P.T. The event will be preceded by an exciting public pop-up exhibit which will be announced soon.

Of all the icons of the big screen, none are more electrifying than the Hollywood rebel, a persona they not only portrayed on screen, they lived it off-screen as well. The “Artifacts of Hollywood?? auction will offer a glimpse into some of Hollywood’s most popular “bad boys?? including Elvis Presley, Steve McQueen, James Dean and Jerry Lee Lewis, to name a few.

“This auction is stellar. The variety of personal and never-before-offered possessions and vehicles are extraordinary. Our focus has always been to preserve history while offering fans and collectors from around the world the opportunity to own unbelievable treasures from moments that shaped our culture.

The highlights, which include Elvis Presley’s own vehicles including his limo and Harley Davidson motorcycle, personal items from Kurt Cobain, Steve McQueen, Marilyn Monroe, Jerry Lee Lewis, Prince, and others make this auction a vivid reminder of Hollywood’s and music’s most cherished moments. The auction will be one for the history books.?? – Brigitte Kruse, Founder, Kruse GWS Auctions.

For the first time, Elvis Presley’s personal white 1973 Lincoln Continental stretch limousine will go up for auction. This is more than a vehicle owned by the “King of Rock‘n’Roll,??— it has an incredible and highly documented history. The stunning limo, owned and used by Elvis, was purchased after he saw the vehicle in a movie. Elvis drove it regularly and  it became a prominent fixture at Graceland.

In 1976, when close buddy J.D. Sumner found himself stranded at Graceland without a ride home, Elvis spontaneously tossed the keys to his precious limousine to Sumner and told him to drive himself home. A generous gift to a friend.

The limousine featured all the amenities of the era, including a TV. The white on white model, with white exterior, interior and roof, has been on exhibit at the Elvis Presley Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Now it’s available for the first time at auction. Photos included show Elvis, who was deputized and would often help local law enforcement, driving the car when he stopped at a car accident in Memphis in 1976.

In another blockbuster offering—and again for the first time—Kruse GWS Auctions will offer the last motorcycle Elvis Presley ever purchased. In August of 1976, Elvis flew back to his “Honeymoon House?? in Palm Springs, CA, and while on the West Coast bought a 1976 Harley Davidson FLH 1200 Electra Glide on the 11^th of the month. The custom-painted Harley Davidson has low, original mileage on the speedometer and has been on display at the Pioneer Auto Museum in Murdo, South Dakota since the late 1980s. The rare, one-of-a-kind motorcycle owned by Presley comes with all papers and historical documentation, including title and registration with Elvis’s name still on it. Interestingly, it was the only vehicle in the museum the public could not touch and was ensconced behind a glass case. Included with the motorcycle is the bill of sale, signed by Presley, when he sold it to a dealership only some 90 days before his death.

The unprecedented array of Presley collectibles also includes medical devices used by his nurse Tish Henley to monitor Elvis while he was on tour. The instruments include an ophthalmoscope, blood pressure cuff, thermometer, ear lavage, medical light, throat probe and stethoscope. On the more traditional side, the auction features Presley’s mother’s pearl necklace; a personally used leather and wool coat, a “TCB?? necklace and a limited edition diamond version; an original 1956 “Heartbreak Hotel?? press release, 1956 press release about his debut album; and a third vehicle, his Circle G Ranch GMC pickup truck, one of three he bought new for the property in 1967. The ranch offered an escape from the press, and Elvis and friends would often drive the trucks around the sprawling acreage. Two years later, Elvis’ father, Vernon sold the pickup trucks back to the same dealership. The restored pickup features a short bed and the original dealer’s name stamped into the back bumper.

The definition of cool, Steve McQueen still holds iconic status for an uncompromising life lived on his own terms. As popular as ever, his legend lives on through his memorabilia. McQueen’s long-sleeve, button-down shirt worn in the film “Nevada Smith?? will go up for sale along with his racing jacket from “Lemans?? accompanied by a letter from the set costumer. One of his Hollywood rebel peers is James Dean and Kruse GWS Auctions will also have a copy of the book “Giant?? autographed by the entire cast and crew, including Dean.

Music memorabilia collectors worldwide continue to seek out Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain extremely rare and always coveted personal possessions. Kruse GWS Auctions will offer the tortured rock star’s personal Seafirst Bank moneybag, which he left in a parking lot following a Dallas Nirvana concert. The bag contains an original Kurt Cobain/Courtney Love joint bank account check, Cobain’s own cigarette lighter, a “Danger?? cassette in cardboard box with a drawing by the grunge rocker and his Seafirst Bank money clip. Written on the bag is “Axl Sucks Earth?? and the bank’s name crossed out in black sharpie. One of the few items of Cobain’s that has come up for auction, the bag was retrieved after the concert by a teenager named Lonnie who  kept it for many years.

Among the other singular, personally owned items up for auction at “Artifacts of Hollywood?? are Jerry Lee Lewis’ jacket worn at the Grand Ole Opry; Judy Garland’s Cartier watch; Marilyn Monroe’s suitcase and jewelry; the spellbinding pink coat worn by Kate Winslet in “Titanic?? and a life vest from the same film; a set of three fatigues belonging to “Forrest,?? “Bubba?? and Lieutenant Dan Taylor from “Forrest Gump?? selling as a set and believed to be the only full set known to exist; Jayne Mansfield’s jewelry and clothing; one-of-a-kind guitars; as a well as an extensive trove of highly collectible artifacts from some of the most sought after stars of our time.

The sound of the engine when rubber meets the road is part of the exclusive—and loud—vehicle offerings at this major August auction event. In addition to the Elvis cycle, the unique “Toys ‘R?? Us Geoffreymobile, designed by legendary car customizer George Barris will also be up for sale.

In an extra special treat, Kruse GWS Auctions is announcing an exceptional public exhibition where fans can view all the items in the auction prior to the event. Free to the public, the showing will be announced soon. For details check back at gwsauctions.com

“Artifacts of Hollywood?? includes a vast array of specially curated collectibles from the world’s most iconic stars, many offered for the very first time. The all-day auction event is poised to set world records and redefine the Hollywood and music memorabilia industry.
