The UK's leading local garage and mechanic comparison service, Whocanfixmycar.com have been analysing their latest customer data to compare the UK's 50 most popular cars and found which ones are the best for consumers to keep their maintenance and repair costs down.

UK's Top 50 Most Popular Cars
The visual below shows the UK's 50 most popular cars , divided by market segment and their average maintenance cost according to the WhoCanFixMyCar.com database.

They calculated how much each car costs to maintain at different ages, from brand new to 15 years old and created an average cost for each car per year. Each figure includes servicing, MOT and any unexpected repairs that may arise.

Reliability and repairs

This study by Whocanfixmycar.com also includes:

  *   The most reliable cars on the road in 2019
  *   The 3 most common repairs for the UK's 50 most popular cars (tables found at the bottom of the article)

The Audi A1 comes out on top as the car least likely to need a repair. Over the course of a year, an Audi A1 owner's chances of needing a repair is a comforting 1 in 1,610.

The Peugeot 206 however, has over 200,000 cars registered on British roads, but with nearly 18,000 repairs taking place between September 2017 and September 2018 on Whocanfixmycar.com, the chances of needing a repair in the next year is a troubling 1 in 11.
