Flooding expected to lead to an influx of water-damaged vehicles in the used car market - here's what to look for
The recent flooding throughout the Midwest and other areas in the country can have major implications for used car shoppers. It’s reminiscent of the impact of Hurricane Katrina and how vehicles were damaged by flood waters with many vehicles being sent across the country to be sold to unsuspecting buyers. Surely, some of these cars from the most recent floods will enter the used car market in the coming months.
Most consumers wouldn’t think about looking for the signs of flood damage in a vehicle, which could result in them making a poor purchase if they’re buying a used car (private or from a used car dealership) in the following months.
