Ford Transit Sport Van Heads Up Most Distinctive Powerful Three Model Line-Up

BIRMINGHAM, England - April 30, 2019: A new 185PS version of Ford’s enhanced 2.0‑liter EcoBlue diesel engine makes the Transit Custom Sport van the most powerful ever, heading up a range of three Transit Sport van models with their signature twin sports stripes.

In addition to a nine per cent power increase and 415Nm of torque for more responsive performance, Transit Custom Sport van customers benefits from a connectivity boost with the introduction of FordPass Connect on-board modem technology.

The new Transit Connect Sport van, revealed last year at the IAA Commercial Vehicle show in Hannover, Germany, is also now available, and features the upgraded 120 PS 1.5-liter EcoBlue diesel and six-speed manual transmission. The compact Transit Courier Sport van completes the line-up.

Transit Custom Sport sales rose by 58 per cent in 2018 compared with the previous year, with 4,402 vans sold, and sales of the Transit Courier Sport were up by 52 per cent, with 1,044 vans sold. Ford delivered its best commercial sales in 25 years in 2018, selling 380,900 commercial vehicles in its 20 European markets, equating to more than 1,000 commercial vehicle sales every single day of the year.

Ford Transit Custom Sportvan

Priced from £32,270 ($44,882), the Transit Custom Sport van uses a new 185PS 2.0-liter EcoBlue engine featuring enhanced high-pressure fuel injection, low-friction architecture and a revised low-inertia turbocharger design that helps deliver a broader spread of power across a wider rpm range.

Customers can choose between a six-speed manual, with CO2 emissions from 155g/km CO₂ and fuel efficiency up to 43.5mpg; or the six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, with CO₂ emissions from 163g/km, and fuel efficiency up to 41.5mpg.

Designed to turn heads, the van combines the bold twin sports stripes with a muscular body kit including body-side mouldings and wheel arch extensions and body-colour bumpers, side mirrors and door handles, alongside 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels. The sporting style also features partial leather interior trim in Ebony, including second or third seat rows where fitted.

Transit Custom Sport series customers are offered a wide choice of bodystyles including van, kombi and double-cab-in-van models in both short- and long-wheelbase versions. Driving dynamics are optimised with a unique chassis specification delivering enhanced steering, handling and ride, and a more responsive and agile feel.

FordPass Connect on-board modem technology joins Ford’s SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system as a standard feature for the Transit Custom Sport, turning the vehicle into a WiFi hotspot for up to 10 devices.

The Transit Custom Sport can also now be specified with an enhanced suite of advanced driver assistance technologies including Active Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Intelligent Speed Limiter, Lane-Keeping Aid, and Blind Spot Information System that now also supports trailers up to 10 meters in length.

Transit Connect Sport joins the family
The stylish new Transit Connect Sport, available now from £20,405, packs a visual punch with an exterior styling kit, matte black sports stripes with silver or orange accents, and 16-inch, five spoke Dark Stainless alloy wheels. The cabin features partial-leather heated driver’s and single passenger seats.

Standard specification includes Dual-Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control and Cruise Control with Adjustable Speed Limiter. Active Park Assist, Ford’s SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system, and FordPass Connect embedded modem are also available.

Ford’s upgraded 120 PS 1.5-liter EcoBlue diesel engine and six-speed manual transmission deliver CO₂ emissions from 130g/km and fuel efficiency from 56.5mpg.

Transit Courier Sport makes a bold statement
The compact Transit Courier Sport, priced from £14,745, makes a big statement for businesses and urban delivery services. Styling highlights include, with bold sports stripes across the bonnet and rear doors, a color-coded body kit, 16-inch alloys wheels with Magnetic silver painted finish, and partial leather sports seats with red contrast stitching. Convenience features include SYNC 3 with a four‑inch color screen and rear parking sensors.

The 100PS 1.5-liter TDCi engine combined with six-speed manual transmission delivers responsiveness performance alongside 112g/km CO₂ emissions and up to 65.7mpg fuel efficiency. For those preferring a petrol option, Ford’s 100PS 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine is available with a six-speed manual transmission, delivering from 119g/km CO₂ and up to 53.3mpg fuel efficiency.

Ford Fiesta Sportvan

In addition to the three distinctive Transit Sport vans, customers requiring a stylish hatchback van can also choose the dynamic Fiesta Sport van, from £15,495, featuring unique front and rear styling, color-coded rocker panels, and up to 18-inch alloy wheels. The sporting theme continues inside the cabin, with revised seats and trim materials, plus unique steering wheel, pedals and gear lever.

Since September 1, 2017, certain new vehicles will be type-approved using the World Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) according (EU) 2017/1151 as last amended, which is a new, more realistic test procedure for measuring fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions. From 1 September 2018 the WLTP will fully replace the New European Drive Cycle (NEDC), which is the current test procedure. During NEDC Phase-out, WLTP fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions are being correlated back to NEDC. There will be some variance to the previous fuel economy and emissions as some elements of the tests have altered i.e., the same car might have different fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions.
