"but none which were perceivable to the human eye": I put the two images in two Firefox tabs and used (Shift+)Ctrl+Tab to switch between them. To my eyes, the difference isverylarge; in fact, it is impossible not to see it. But I do agree that none of the options is 'obviously' better than the other, and -- of course -- the adjective 'better' is highly subjective and/or dependent on your particular application.
