Big Boss Barra Looks to China for GM’s Electric Rebirth

In October last year, GM’s product development head, Mark Reuss, said the company “believes in an all-electric future,” committing to introduce at least 20 new battery electric vehicles by 2023. China is a big part of the strategy, as the largest market for electric cars. GM already has a major business in the country through its joint ventures, selling 2.7 million vehicles in the nine months through September and recording equity income of $1.7 billion.
