SEOUL - December 26, 2018: Today, G70 has been named as the ‘2018 Safest Car of the Year’ during ‘2018 KNCAP ceremony’ held by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT).

The Safest Car of the Year is awarded through Korean New Car Assessment Program (KNCAP) by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The G70 received the best score (92.9 points) in the mid sedan category and perfect scores in both front and side crash safety, pedestrian protection and its advanced driver-assistance systems. This is the first time that a Genesis vehicle was awarded ‘Safest Car of the Year.’

G70 features a robust, reinforced structure, as part of an effort to provide class-leading occupant safety, just like other Genesis models—including the application of structural adhesive to maximize torsional stiffness and body strength. The additional benefit of such a rigid body structure is the ability to finely tune the suspension for both excellent ride quality as well as superb handling dynamics. Also, an active hood system that raises in the event of impact, to ensure safety for driver as well as pedestrians, is applied to G70 as a standard feature.

Earlier in December, G70 and the entire Genesis lineup, including the G80 and G90 sedans, were recognized as Top Safety Pick+ by the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
