GM Recall - Gas In The Brake Pistons Can Make Brake Pedal Spongy And May Cause An Accident

Detroit September 11, 2018; General Motors said that it is recalling more than 200,000 vehicles, mainly in the U.S. and about 1000 in Canada, to fix a potential problem with rear brake performance.

This latest recall covers GMC Terrain, Buick Lacrosse and Regal, 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, Cadillac XTS and Chevrolet Cruze, Equinox, Volt, Impala and Bolt vehicles from 2018 and 2019.

GM said trapped hydrogen gas in the rear brake caliper pistons can could make the brakes feel soft and increase the risk of a crash.

Its a simple fix; local dealers will bleed the brakes to remove gas.

GM says that after the bleed is completed the problem should not happen again.
