MONDAY, AUGUST 13, 2018 NEW LIME ROCK HISTORY BOOK AVAILABLE AT HISTORIC FESTIVAL 36 LAKEVILLE, Conn.—The new book, “Lime Rock Park: Six Decades of Speed, Beauty and Tradition,?? will showcase a compilation of stories from various authors looking back at Lime Rock Park, the famous road course that opened in 1957.
This book, edited by Auto Racing Journalist Gordon Kirby with a foreword by Lime Rock Park President Skip Barber, shares expert insight from motorsport insiders and legends, including Sam Posey, David Hobbs, Murray Smith, Scott Atherton, Rich Taylor, Judy Stropus, Alan Claffie and Jim Donick. “Following the track’s 60th anniversary in 2017, we knew the time had come to publish an update to Rich Taylor’s book, ‘Lime Rock Park, 35 Years of Racing,’?? said Skip Barber, Lime Rock President. “
The goal was to publish a book covering the numerous improvements and investments made in Lime Rock Park and provide informative and entertaining vignettes from some of the key figures from the track’s history.?? In the book, contributors share their perspective on major aspects of the track’s history such as Paul Newman, John Fitch, Briggs Cunningham, Sam Posey, the Trans-Am’s glory days at Lime Rock and NASCAR’s years at Lime Rock.
The book also takes a look at the Skip Barber Racing School’s successful tenure at Lime Rock as well as Jim Haynes’ 20 years as the track’s manager from the Sixties through the Eighties, and P. J. Jones’ amazing track record set back in 1993 aboard a 1,000 hp All American Racers Eagle-Toyota IMSA GTP car. As fans know, Lime Rock Park is a beautiful place with a rich history,?? Barber said. “There’s a special spirit that exists here and we hope this book paints a vivid picture of the track for those who have never visited, as well our fans and competitors who have enjoyed many years of spectating and racing at Lime Rock.??
