AUTOMOTIVE HERITAGE AWARDS PRESENTED
List Of Winners HERE
Our 2018 Automotive Heritage Awards have been presented during the Concours d’Elegance of America at St. John’s in the Brembo media hospitality tent at 10 AM, EST. Ed Lucas, the resonant “voice of Meadow Brook” and many other Concours and an automotive heritage expert, presiding.
The National Automotive History Collection of the Detroit Public Library will present its traditional Future Collectible Vehicle of the Year award. Richard Kollins, Board of Trustees president of the NAHC, will present their traditional Future Collectible Vehicle of the Year award for that new vehicle we’ll likely see at car shows 25 years hence. The winner is from a major automaker and will probably not surprise you. But, it is well-deserved.
Our AHA Concept Vehicle of the Year honor goes to a strikingly sleek and beautiful piece of automotive aesthetics presented at a major Concours event rather than a motor show. Chief judge, Brian Baker, retired GM designer and now director of the Leeland Chapter of the Society of Automotive Historians will present the award tomorrow . . . ! Watch this space mid-day tomorrow for the results.
The Automotive Heritage Journalism Awards represent the Bulk of our awards. We’ll present beautiful, Alex Buchan-produced trophies to the Best in each of 10 classes, and gold, silver and bronze medals for other entries deemed by the experienced judges to be worthy of high praise. Gary Witzenburg, veteran automotive journalist, will describe the process and present the awards.
Finally, the most important honor we bestow is for Lifetime Achievement. Tony Swan, previous honoree, assembled a panel of his peers to make the decision and Tony will present the award to a contemporary of his, one whose work we all know and respect.
