Mini Tyrrell has raced in a lot of big races and at 13 years old, there are
a lot of big races in his future but for right now the Solid Rock Carriers
150 at Carteret County Speedway is the biggest race of his life.
And Mini isn't looking to have just a good run, he's looking for a win
after missing out on two wins in the last race on the Swansboro, NC track.
"We're going there to win the race," said Mini. "We came so close during
the twin races last month and this team has been working hard to make sure
we're one of the cars to beat this Saturday."
Mini's performances in his first four races on the 4/10 mile flat track
located just down the road from Emerald Isle Beach on the Crystal Coast of
North Carolina certainly have him marked down as one of the favorites to
win the 150-lap race. Mini has finished fourth once and second twice along
with a DNF (did not finish) due to engine issues in his second start at
Carteret.
The Solid Rock Carriers 150 is being touted by the track as the "World's
Richest Limited Late Model Race" with a top payout to the winner of
$15,000. Mini isn't necessarily focused on the money but rather getting a
win he feels slip through his fingers during the June 9th twin events.
"Finishing second in both those twin races after leading laps was kinda
disappointing. We should have won at least one of those races and honestly
we could have won them both if things would have gone right. Those two
races really have us feeling good heading into the 150-lap race."
Mini knows that the competition in the Solid Rock Carriers 150 is going to
be even tougher than the weekly competition at Carteret County Speedway.
"Looks like there will be some really good cars and drivers coming for the
big money. The competition at Carteret is already very strong and with
some of the drivers and teams coming for this race it's going to be tough.
I expect a great race with some of the best Limiteds anywhere."
Mini is one of 12 Limited Late Model drivers already pre-entered for the
Solid Rock Carriers 150 with nearly three times as many expected to enter
by the weekend. Mini will take to the track on Friday for testing along
with the rest of the competitors and the race will take place on Saturday
night July 7th at 7pm.
PitRow.tv will offer a Pay-per-view streaming video of the race for as low
as $24.99, while RACE22.com will have RACEDAY LIVE text and photo updates
of the event for free for those who can't make it. Tickets for the event
will be available at the gate the day of the event for $20 for adults with
kids 10 and under get in free. More info on the track available at
