The "Attendant Services in Support of Senior Mobility"

MONTREAL, May 14, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - PIMO is launching the "Attendant Services in Support of Senior Mobility" (Accompagner pour soutenir la mobilité des ainés) project with the support of the Québec amis des ainés program. PIMO will work with the volunteer sector to provide attendant and attendant-transportation services to people 65 and over across the Island of Montreal.

Starting May 15 and continuing until December 2019, the "Attendant Services in Support of Senior Mobility" project will be deployed all over the island. PIMO's attendant services will have additional resources, trained to provide attendant services to anyone 65 and over, regardless of their limitations. This project allows the use of the model that PIMO developed in cooperation with the Table accompagnement de Montréal, which prioritizes volunteer attendant services to complement those of PIMO, whose attendants are paid.

Moreover, in conjunction with the 211 Service (Information and Referral Centre of Greater Montréal), a referral tool will be used to direct people who need attendant or attendant-transportation services to organizations that can meet their needs.

At the conclusion of the project designed for seniors, the model could be deployed to aid Montrealers who are 15 years old and over. We sincerely hope that our initiative will inspire the other regions of Quebec where attendant service needs are just as great.

A "Care and Carry" campaign has been developed to recruit volunteer car owners for attendant-transportation services. We encourage the public to get involved by becoming volunteer attendants.
