Strata Geosystems is Proud to be Involved in the Eastern Peripheral Expressway Project, Decongesting Traffic in Delhi
NEW DELHI, April 30, 2018 --
The rising pollution levels in Delhi NCR region is a matter of big concern, not only for the residents but also for The Supreme Court of India, Environment Pollution (prevention and control) Authority for NCR, and another Ministries. One of the major causes of the pollution in Delhi is the heavy traffic. Hon'ble Supreme Court on March 8, 2004, directed the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to construct bypasses and expressways around Delhi. Therefore, The Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) connecting Delhi, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Greater Noida, Baghpat and Sonipat was proposed. EPE was inaugurated by honourable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi on April 29, 2018. Strata Geosystems is extremely proud to be associated with and be a contributor to the timely and environment-friendly completion of this project.
The project is being directly monitored by India's Supreme Court and the prime minister's office. The 135-km Eastern Peripheral Expressway connecting Palwal with Sonepat via Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh was completed in a record time of approximately 500 days against a target of 910 days. Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highway, said that this could become a record-breaker for one of the fastest projects to be built.
The government has drawn up a target to lay 18,637 kilometres' network of new expressways by 2022. The dire need for innovative technologies, superior construction quality, time-sensitive project life-cycles, and a reliable partner has made Strata Geosystems the go-to leader in the soil re-engineering and reinforced soil wall space in India.
Strata has recently completed the construction of the reinforced soil walls across the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. This project involved StrataBlock™ and StrataGrid™. StrataBlock™ is a composite system consisting of concrete block units in combination with a mass of soil which is reinforced and stabilized by StrataGrid™. StrataGrid™ is a high-tenacity polyester yarn knitted into a dimensionally stable network of apertures, providing tensile capacity. It has been proven as a technically superior, economical, and environmentally friendly solution for soil reinforcement.
Strata has built reinforced soil walls for half of the stretch, close to 1,00,000 sq. metres, involving over 27 structures in this project (from Greater Noida to Palwal). Out of six packages, they worked with 3 packages (construction firms) - Oriental Structural Engineers Private Limited, Ashoka Buildcon Limited and Gayatri Projects Limited. It involves high-height structures varying up to 15 metres height. They had an efficient casting supply chain system that helped in speedy construction of the expressway. Strata provided a turn-key solution by playing many different roles: the manufacturer, supplier, planner and designer. This is a very prestigious project as this will decongest the heavy traffic for the national capital (Delhi) and help reduce the pollution.
