An unplanned visit to Mercedes-Benz Vans UK's first ever Pop-Up Store led tile company boss Craig Schietaert to cement a deal for two new X-Class pick-ups.

Craig and fellow Director Scott Smithson, of Concept Tiling Solutions, are now using their highly specified X 250 d POWER 'company cars' to conduct site surveys, deliver tools and materials to work locations, and as personal transport at the weekends.

"They're fantastic, every bit as good as we hoped," enthused Craig. "The X-Class has real presence, and portrays an extremely professional, high-quality image when we turn up to client meetings and sites.

"These vehicles are great to drive, too, and ideal for both business and pleasure - the load beds are wide enough to take a full pallet of tiles, while the cabs are roomy and comfortable enough to carry our families in style. We specified lockable rollcovers for the load areas, which means they're perfect for carrying a load of golf bags too."

Following his visit to the Mercedes-Benz Vans pop-up, in the intu Trafford Centre, Manchester, Craig was put in contact with his local Dealer, Roanza Truck & Van, Stoke on Trent.

Identically specified and smartly finished in Stone Grey metallic paint, both vehicles are the subject of flexible, low-cost Agility funding agreements with Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.

Their 2.3-litre, 190 hp engines drive through seven-speed automatic transmissions. As X-Class POWER models they came as standard with switchable four-wheel drive, and luxury features including electrically adjustable front seats, advanced infotainment systems, keyless ignition and automatic climate control.

To these, Craig and Scott added optional Parking, Style and Winter Packages, which include heated seats, parking sensors and cameras, and 19-inch alloy wheels, as well as full leather interiors and COMAND Online navigation.

Craig recalled: "Having seen reports in the trade press I was already aware of the X-Class and thought it looked very good. I happened to be in the Trafford Centre with the family when we came across the pop-up shop - I hadn't known it was there, but couldn't resist a look."

Inside, he was able to see and touch a display model, and use innovative interactive touchscreens to find out more about the first pick-up to wear the legendary three-pointed star.

"I quickly realised the X-Class was the perfect vehicle for both of us, so I sent Scott a text message there and then," he said. "The staff at the shop put me in contact with the sales team at Roanza and I placed our order shortly afterwards."

As new customers to Mercedes-Benz Vans, Craig and Scott are impressed by the three-year unlimited mileage warranties on their new pick-ups, as well as the manufacturer's MobiloVan cover, which includes free emergency roadside assistance, and the promise of round-the-clock after sales support from its Dealer network.

"I'm based in Middlewich, Cheshire, while Scott is over in Leeds - between the two of us, and the teams of self-employed tiling contractors we use, we cover the entire North of England and rack up some big mileages," added Craig. "We don't expect to have to use it but the fact that Mercedes-Benz provides such comprehensive back-up is a great comfort."
