USAA Named As One of the 2017 Best Workplaces for Diversity by Great Place to Work® and FORTUNE

SAN ANTONIO, Dec. 5, 2017 -- As an organization committed to building Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) throughout its cultural fabric, USAA is proud to be listed No. 11 on the 2017 Best Workplaces for Diversity. Making D&I part of the culture allows USAA to provide a great place to work and exceptional service and innovative solutions for members..

The ranking considered more than 440,000 employee surveys from organizations in a wide range of industries across the U.S. Great Place to Work evaluated more than 50 elements of team members' experience on the job. These included professional development, behaviors linked to innovation, leadership confidence and consistent treatment among employees of different backgrounds.

"We are honored to be a part of this list and truly appreciate the recognition," said Monique McCloud, USAA's Chief Diversity Officer. "At USAA, we believe that passionate, open-minded people of all cultures and backgrounds should have the opportunity to be successful. This honor is a testament to our commitment and to our continued efforts in encouraging D&I."

USAA's D&I credo is "Many Faces. One Mission." This philosophy describes a place where all employees count and contribute to the company's overall success. Diversity within the culture – just as within a financial portfolio – makes the foundation even stronger. This strength helps USAA provide exceptional member service and innovative solutions for its members and their families.

"The Best Workplaces for Diversity have achieved something beyond basic fairness. They find ways to connect with each and every employee, listening to their challenges and building on their talents," said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work.

By fostering an inclusive work culture and encouraging an open dialogue between employees, USAA is creating conditions for people to succeed. In fact, USAA received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality.

USAA has long been recognized for its service and for being a top employer. This year, Great Place to Work and FORTUNE ranked USAA among the 100 Best Companies to Work For, Best Workplaces for Parents, Best Workplaces for Women and Best Workplaces for Millennials.
