Kosair Charities® Advisory Council to grant over $225,000 to five local children’s organizations this Holiday Season
Press Conference and Check Presentation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m.

WHAT |                 The Kosair Charities Advisory Council is excited to grant over $225,000 to six local, non-profit organizations whose mission is to better the lives of kids in our community. The 2017 recipients are as follows: AMPED Youth Center in West Louisville, Bingham Clinic, Doors to Hope, First Gethsemane Family Development Center, Lemonade Day and Louisville Leopard Percussionists.

Kosair Charities Advisory Council members selected these six deserving children’s organizations to receive grants between $25,000 and $70,000 from Kosair Charities. These grants are in addition to the over $14 million dollars given at The Crystal Ball, Kosair Charities annual gifts and grant event, which was held in early October of this year. *Media note: You can learn more about each of the organizations prior to the press conference below.

AMPED Youth Center:  AMPED is a free youth music program that provides a safe environment for youth to explore their creativity through music. Bingham Clinic: The Bingham Clinic exists to maximize the emotional and behavioral health of children, adolescents and families through innovative, comprehensive and preventive clinical services. Doors to Hope: Doors to Hope opens learning opportunities, encourages community involvement, and engages in advocacy for women and immigrant families.Doors to Hope offers several programs including preparation for taking the GED exam, tutoring for English as a second language (ESL), afterschool tutoring, a Women’s Group, and individual advocacy as needed. http://doorstohope.com​

First Gethsemane Family Development Center CFD: Since their incorporation in 1996, it has been the mission of the CFD to partner with government, business, and civic leaders across the city of Louisville to “reduce the barriers of success.�?? First Gethsemane CFD hosts more than twenty programs that service hundreds of youth and adult participants throughout the year, at little to no cost. Many of the youth programs focus on summer services during school adjournment, which counteracts summer learning loss while providing a safe and secure environment.

Lemonade Day: Lemonade Day Louisville is working to empower today’s youth to become tomorrow’s entrepreneurs. They are helping prepare today’s youth for life through fun, proactive and experiential programs infused with life skills, character education, and entrepreneurship. Louisville Leopard Percussionists:  Louisville Leopard Percussionists mission is to provide a comprehensive musical experience for children that enriches lives and builds community. The Louisville Leopard Percussionists (LLP) are a performing ensemble comprised of 60+ student musicians ages 7-14, who reside in 26 different Louisville zip codes and attend 48 different schools in and around Louisville, Kentucky.

The children of Metro Louisville have developed music appreciation, performance skills, proficiency on a variety of percussion instruments, and learn to improvise, compose, and teach music, and to care for their instruments.
