Essen Motor Show Starts on the 50th Lap from the Pole Position
ESSEN, Germany, October 23, 2017 --
House lights down, stage lights on: From December 2 to 10 (December 1: Preview Day), the Essen Motor Show will ensure the high spirits of car fans and tuners for the 50th time. What began as the "International Sports and Racing Car Exhibition Essen" in 1968 is today the unrivalled performance festival amongst the automobile fairs. More than 500 exhibitors will present their innovations and premieres at Messe Essen. The participants will include Ford-Werke, Lada, Peugeot, Porsche, Renault, Shelby, Skoda and VW Motorsport. The Japanese makes Lexus and Nissan will be represented via trading partners. The Mercedes FanWorld as well as the tyre manufacturers Continental, Hankook and Toyo Tires will be exhibitors, too.
"We are particularly pleased about the growing demand from the industry on the occasion of the anniversary ending in a zero. The manufacturers appreciate the Essen Motor Show because they can present their makes there in a particularly emotional way," Oliver P. Kuhrt, CEO of Messe Essen, explained the development from the exhibition to the performance festival. For the visitors, the Essen Motor Show is primarily an experience. Sporty series vehicles, tuning, motorsports and classic cars are the pillars of the automobile wonder world which will probably attract well over 300,000 fans. For 30 years, the General German Automobile Club (ADAC) has also sat in the cockpit as the ideal sponsor and presented its motorsports and young drivers programmes in Essen.
The core of the Essen Motor Show will be the enthusiasm for performance vehicles - irrespective of the form of the drive. This demand will be reflected by the diverse supporting programme: On the occasion of 50th anniversary of Mercedes‑AMG, a special show will await the visitors to Hall 3 with spectacular exhibits such as the Mercedes 300 SEL 6.8 AMG from 1971 and the current Mercedes‑AMG GT3. Directly next to them, the visitors will experience the mobility of the future: The car sharing provider eShare.one/RUHRAUTOe will present sustainably driven vehicles, including the three current models from Tesla. The other exhibits will include the 2018 e‑cars from BMW i, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Opel, Renault, Smart and Toyota.
