mc² "Death to Diesel" Campaign Wins the Gold Stevie® Award for PR Program of the Year

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 26, 2017 -- mc², a frontier tech communications agency, today announced it has won a Gold Stevie® Award for its "Death to Diesel" campaign. The mc² campaign for client, Proterra, earned PR Program of Year at the 15th Annual American Business Awards. Stevie honorees were judged by over 190 professionals worldwide and evaluated on creativity, innovation, and the campaign's proven success. mc² was selected in a year that saw one of the Stevie's highest submissions to date, and beat out more than 3,600 nominations, in almost every industry.

As automakers and countries around the world, from the UK to France to China, move to ban combustion engines from personal cars to medium and heavy-duty trucks and buses, a global movement is afoot for clean solutions. However, while the economic and environmental benefits of electric mobility are clearer and more compelling than ever before, there are still hurdles to overcome as cities, commercial enterprises, and other institutions transition to infrastructure systems that support battery-electric transport. mc²'s Death to Diesel campaign aimed to address market misconceptions around outdated costs and performance, while spotlighting Proterra's innovation and market leadership in the heavy-duty electric vehicle industry.

Launched six months before Volkswagen's emissions scandal broke, the Death to Diesel campaign was designed to help realize Proterra's clean mobility mission and to encourage the U.S. transition to zero-emission vehicles. The campaign continues to generate significant market visibility, and drive awareness with customers, investors, and partners. With over 800 media features, 50 speaking opportunities and 8 awards, Proterra is widely perceived now as one of the clear leaders in the electrification revolution.

"Supplanting an incumbent industry that has defined transportation for over a century is no easy task, but that's exactly our mission as Proterra seeks to replace every heavy-duty fossil fuel and diesel-dependent vehicle in North America," said Caroline Venza, mc² CEO and founder. "We thank the Stevies for this recognition, our great team for their insights and hard work and our clients like Proterra, that are forging new sustainable frontiers for us all."
