MEYER AND WILLIAMS WIN IN EARLVILLE

EARLVILLE, Iowa. - Racers Megan Meyer, Olathe, Kan., and Kirk Williams, Glenwood, Iowa, took home wins in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car Sunday evening at Tri-State Raceway in Earlville, Iowa. This event concluded the six race Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series in the NHRA West Central division.

Meyer faced off against Mike Edstrom, Maple Grove, Minn., running 5.337 seconds, 272.39 mph, for the holeshot win.  Edstrom runner upped at 5.294 seconds, 271.62 mph.

Williams captured the Top Alcohol Funny Car victory with a pass of 5.617 seconds, 256.26 mph.  Kris Hool, Evansville, Wyo., had mechanical issues midway through his pass, finishing up at 7.508 seconds, 126.33 mph.

David Billingsley, Decatur, Ill., was better at the line and was first to the stripe in the Comp Eliminator final round, posting a time of 8.204 seconds, 158.24 mph; eliminating Matt Harris, Nebraska City, Neb.

It was a battle of Camaros in Super Stock as local driver Michael Lund of Bettendorf, took the win over Brett Speer, Pierz, Minn., in his '88 Camaro with a great reaction time of .003 second, and a 9.929 second, 130.19 mph pass.

In the Jerry Haas Race Cars Top Sportsman final round, Michael Freischel, Cottage Grove, Minn., dueled with Terry Pope, Blair, Neb., and scored a winning run of 7.473 seconds, 183.37 mph. Al Peavler, Olney, Ill., earned the win in the Fineline Graphics/Madcap Top Dragster final round with a lap of 6.397 seconds, 218.09 mph.

The other racers visiting the winner's circle this weekend were John Cooper in Stock; Don Nichols in Super Comp; Kurt Potach in Super Gas; Matt Kohl in Super Street; William Homuth in Sportsman Motorcycle; and Alexis Halverson in Junior Dragster.
