Flatout Gaskets Nitrous Wars Proves Good Indicator for Overall Success
PITTSBORO, N.C. (July 26, 2017): The guys and gals of Switzer Dynamics Pro
Nitrous presented by MoTeC depend on their engine programs as a large part
of the equation for their success. The engine builders, even if not in the
driver’s seat, take winning as seriously as anyone. While the quickest and
fastest car isn’t always the one in the winner’s circle, it’s proving to be
true more often than not in this season of Pro Nitrous. Three times in the
five events held thus far this year, the Flatout Gaskets Pro Nitrous Wars
winner, that is, the pole sitter, has went on to win the event.
At the season opener in Valdosta, Georgia and again in Budds Creek,
Maryland, Jay Cox and his Buck Racing Engines-powered “The Pumpkin?? Camaro
won both the Flatout Gaskets Nitrous Wars and the event. He won again at
Indy, despite having an uncharacteristic performance in qualifying.
The other clear contender in the Flatout Gaskets Nitrous Wars is Musi
Racing Engines, represented by several top teams, namely Lizzy Musi, Tommy
Franklin and Randy Weatherford. Lizzy Musi took her “King Kong 6?? to the
top qualifying spot at GALOT Motorsports Park. Tommy Franklin followed up
with another top spot for Musi Engines in Darlington, going on to win the
event in “The Jungle Rat??. He also took Nitrous Wars honors at Indy, but
just missed sweeping the event, falling in the final round to Jay Cox.
While fellow Musi Engines customer Randy Weatherford has yet to take home
the coveted Flatout Gaskets Nitrous Wars nitrous bottle trophy, he has
consistently been in the top three in qualifying and currently sits third
in championship points standings, closely following Cox who sits in first
and Franklin in second.
“I’m just in a rhythm right now,?? stated Cox, who claimed two Nitrous Wars
victories this season, as well as two event wins. “I take pride in that No.
1 spot. It’s just a good rivalry we have going with the Musi cars. I’m just
tickled for (engine builder) Charlie Buck and all of my sponsors.??
There are three events left to determine the overall Flatout Gaskets
Nitrous Wars Champion, a title completely independent of the points
standings, with its own set of bragging rights. Buck Racing Engines has two
of five wins, while Musi Racing Engines holds the other three.
“The Flatout Gasket Nitrous Wars creates a race within a race and we are so
thrilled to be able to compete for this bottle for the PDRA,?? added
Franklin. “The competition is stiff with Jay Cox, Randy Weatherford, Lizzy
Musi, Jason Harris, and many others, so it is an honor to take our Musi
Racing Engines powered ‘Jungle Rat’ to the number one qualifying position.
We may be over the halfway point of the season, but you can guarantee the
intensity is only getting higher. I just thank the Lord that I can do this
and I thank the PDRA and all of its sponsors that allow us to compete for
something so great.??
Even through the heat of the summer, it takes a sub-3.70 pass to top the
Pro Nitrous field. The extremely competitive class will continue to be one
to follow as the events get into the cooler fall weather.
The upcoming PDRA Summer Nationals at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park might
not offer a reprieve from the heat, but the scheduled night racing will
showcase these flame-throwing nitrous machines the way they’re truly meant
to be enjoyed. Watch only at www.SpeedVideo.com or find ticket information
