MONTREAL—Recochem Inc. announced today it is recalling the product Sonic Brake Fluid DOT-3 sold in a 350-mL white bottle, model number 35-883SO and UPC 57316108005.

The product was mislabelled and may contain Power Steering fluid. The issue is limited to Sonic Brand Brake fluid DOT-3 in a 350 mL white bottle (traditionally Brake Fluid products are sold in black bottles), and no other products of any other size are affected.

The recalled product was produced on behalf of Federated Co-op in August 2016 and distributed across western Canadian provinces to potentially 400 Co-op stores. Recochem is working closely with Health Canada and notices of this Recall have been communicated to all retail locations where the product was sold.

Consumers who have purchased this product and have not used it should return it to any Co-op store for a full refund.

Consumers who have used this product in their braking system should not drive their vehicle and have it towed to their preferred service station for a full fluid flush of the braking system. Consumers should advise the Service Technician that the brake system may be contaminated with Power Steering Fluid.

Consumers who may have used this product should call Recochem at 1-800-361-6030 for instructions on reimbursement of any towing services or for related brake fluid flush service expenses.
