HERNDON, Va.—Today, Audi of America further cements its commitment to soccer with the launch of the Audi Fan IQ, an interactive platform that measures Major League Soccer fan knowledge. A weekly online predictive platform kicking off on Wednesday, June 7, the Fan IQ stems from last year’s introduction of a new statistical analysis, the Audi Player Index, across all MLS matches and is the latest in soccer innovation from Audi.

Every Monday throughout the rest of June, questions will be uploaded to MLSsoccer.com/Audi. Fans are encouraged to answer a multi-part question about their prediction for select stats and outcomes of each week’s MLS match-ups. Rules and exclusions for participation can also be found on the official site.

Each week, fans will be able to enter and submit answers up until the kickoff of the first match of the week. Sample questioning could range from identifying which player will score the most goals in a single match that week to predicting who will have the most tackles. Each Audi Fan IQ participant will receive their Audi Fan IQ, calculated based on the number of correct answers to each part of the weekly question.

The fan with the highest Audi Fan IQ at the end of each week will be awarded a trip to the 2017 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target in Chicago on August 2. Four prize winners will be chosen to receive the MLS All-Star Game VIP experience. The VIP experience will include two tickets to the game; round trip airfare for two; and hotel accommodations for three nights; Audi ground transportation to and from an airport near the winner’s residence and a Chicago area airport, the hotel, and the MLS All-Star Game; pre-match field and event access, as well as official autographed merchandise. A second chance to participate in the Audi Fan IQ will take place this fall, beginning September 25 and lasting through October 22. Four fans will again be chosen during the second installment.

The introduction of the Audi Player Index last year and now the Audi Fan IQ in 2017 signifies the brand’s ongoing commitment to growing the sport through the lens of innovation and fan engagement.

Using Opta data sources, the Audi Player Index tracks nearly 90 components and 2,000 player actions during each MLS game. Player actions, ranging from goals and assists to crosses, saves, passes, challenges, tackles and more, are calculated in near real-time. The Audi Player Index then considers the position of the player and whether the actions are consistent with that role, as well as the location on the field where each action occurred. The result is a unique, definitive Audi Player Index score assigned to every MLS player at the conclusion of each game.
