With three events now in the books the points battles are heating up in
every one of the core four divisions that compete at Franklin County
Speedway during every race. The Memorial Day Bash on Sunday afternoon
could heat up these battles even more.

In the Late Model Stock Car division the absense of a couple of key point
competitors in last weekends Commonwealth Clash could play a role in how
the championship is decided. Despite having a win and you're in chase
format similar to NASCAR, missing races plays a part in how the competitors
are seeded into the second round and even how many points they're awarded.
Ross "BooBoo" Dalton came into the last race as the points leader but
missing twin features moved him back to sixth, 47 points out of the lead.

Dennis Holdren who has been the most consistent driver this season but
remains winless in the Late Model division took over the points lead while
Kyle Dudley picked up two wins and closed to within four points of the top
spot. Despite being taken out of the first race after contact with Wesley
Thomason, Devin Steele moved up to third in the points just 14 markers back
from the leader. Daniel Hutson and Jonathan Hall are tied for fourth in
points only three points behind Steele.

With a 100-lap feature for the Late Models on tap, Holdren will still be
looking for his first win but he'll also be looking to gain valuable points
to stay ahead of Dudley for the championship. With Dudley's three wins on
the season he's the leader of the Chase grid and is hungry for more.
Dalton, Mike Looney and Kelly Kingery will be fighting to get back in the
mix for the championship after missing the last race.

Two points separates the entire top five in Mini Stock points standings
right now. Following a wild night of twin races for the division that saw
two new winners on the season, first race winner Dennis Holdren has the top
spot by just one point over second race winner Chad Burnopp. A three way
tie for third just two points back includes the most recent winner Cole
Martin, Brian Turner and Josh Phillips.

These five drivers are expected to keep the points tight all season long as
the passing points keeps the field tight with some guys starting at the
front and finishing there while others move from the back of the pack to
the front and gain those valuable points. Drew Holdren, the points leaders
brother finds himself atop the passing points standings despite missing the
second race of the season. He's passed 12 cars which is twice as many as
Turner and Phillips have passed placing them in a tie for second in passing
points.

In the V8 Street division another wild race has vaulted Steve Worthington
back into the points lead by virtue of his win and five valuable passing
points he gained en route to the triumph. Division dominator saw his day
come to an end as his water pump broke but after crashes and
disqualifications he managed to finish in third position. Which salvaged
what could have been a bad points day. Worthington leads the points by
just two over Warsing. James Woods is third with Mark Arrington and Mike
Worthington completing the top five in points.

Though his day didn't end like he might have expected after charging up to
third position, Steve Brodie who missed the first two races of the season
is looking to climb his way back into the thick of the championship
battle. He passed three cars en route to a fourth place finish which gave
him a good jump start to rally back from a 64 point deficit to the points
leader currently. Passing points could play a pivital role for a driver to
get himself back in championship contention.

Just 10 points separates the top three in the U-Car points standings much
like last years championship battle that saw the best four drivers compete
for the championship on the final night. So far Tony Housman is undefeated
this season with three wins in a row and six in a row dating back to the
end of last season. Hot on his heels is Mike Reed and WJ Altizer who are
both looking to unseat him from victory lane. Housman and fourth place
points contender Doug Brown have scored the most passing points with four
on the season to date.

The points battles will continue to heat up and shake out as event number
four for the 2017 season is set to take place this Sunday night in the
Memorial Day Bash. Race begins at 7pm with a 100-lap Late Model Stock Car
race on the card as well as the first appearance by the Modifieds and
single features for the Mini Stocks, V8 Street and U-Cars.

Adult tickets are $10, Youth tickets (5-12) are $5 and children four and
under get in free. Veterans and active military with ID will receive half
price grandstand admission on Sunday night.
