BAR1 Celebrates 2nd and 3rd Place Finishes for the 55th Rolex 24 at Daytona Campaigning two full season entries for the 2017 Rolex 24 at Daytona, BAR1 Motorsports completed all 24 hours with the No. 26 Autosport Designs / Case It ORECA FLM09 driven by Johnny Mowlem, Tom Papadopoulos, Adam Merzon, Trent Hindman and David Cheng taking second place and the No. 20 Gas Monkey Energy Drink / Merchant Services Ltd. ORECA FLM09 driven by Don Yount, Buddy Rice, Mark Kvamme, Chapman Ducote and Gustavo Yacaman, finishing third. Not without its challenges, finishing the 24 hours is an accomplishment in itself… by any standards. Putting two cars on the podium, well, that’s epic. It’s an accomplishment that requires a total team effort… from every member at every level on the team. If you ask the drivers, they will all tell you the same thing, this doesn’t happen without a total team commitment from everyone involved. “This year’s team was an incredible cast of talent,�?? noted team owner, Brian Alder. “Honestly, I’m humbled by the commitment and effort put forth by everyone on the team. Putting two cars on the grid and having them running at the end…. and on the podium, is an incredible feat. I honestly don’t know how you let each individual know how important their role was… but everyone put everything they had into bringing those cars to the finish. It’s an amazing experience.�?? Of course, an experience like this gives you great respect for your competitors. After spending the entire race chasing the No. 38 Performance Tech team, Alder had nothing but congratulations for them. “The 38 car had a heck of a run,�?? said Brian. “It wouldn’t be unrealistic to say they had a perfect run. They were fast, the car performed and their drivers never put a wheel off. They genuinely had it all going on. Early in the race and throughout the evening hours, we managed to stay in striking distance. We had a few small issues… things every team expects and you build into your game plan… and you expect your competition to experience the same ebb and flow. Well, that never happened for Performance Tech. So… believe me, I know what it takes… these guys ran a great race and all of us at BAR1 congratulate them.�?? “Our drivers really did a fantastic job, in both cars,�?? added Brian. “I think our driver line-up brought a good mix of talent and experience. We certainly had our share of challenges throughout the evening, but cool heads and some impressive pit work kept us in the hunt. The No. 20 car took a tough hit in the early morning hours. Tough enough that some teams might of parked it. But our guys were having none of that. They went to work and got the car back out there. We relinquished second place to the No. 26 and kept the No. 20 in third. The crew gets the credit for that one.�?? “Our veteran drivers have been extremely important in preparing for the race,�?? Brian continued. “They bring a wealth of experience to the table that is invaluable to our engineers and to the other drivers. When you’ve got guys like Buddy Rice or Johnny Mowlem, you pay a lot of attention to what they have to say and you want all of your drivers to respect that experience.�?? “Lastly,�?? continued Alder, “I’d be remiss not to recognize Brian Delaney, our team manager. Brian has been working for the past 5 months putting this crew together and going over every detail of our program. He worked long and hard… much of our success is owed to him.�??
