Zoom.ca Innovates the Canadian Auto Buying Experience

Consumers are now able to buy a pre-owned vehicle from home, and have it delivered to their door.

TORONTO, Oct. 26, 2016 /CNW/ - Transforming how Canadians purchase used vehicles, Zoom.ca launches today, offering the first website in Canada where a consumer is able to buy a car, entirely online.

Zoom offers several innovations to bring transparency and convenience to the purchasing process. Website visitors are able to interact with 360° spins of vehicles, customize their financing options, place a deposit, purchase protections and insurance, and sign documents - all from the comfort of their home.

"After conducting extensive Canadian research on the used car purchasing experience, we learned that 52.4% of consumers wanted to complete their purchase online," says Dan Allison, Co-Founder of Zoom.ca. "Consumers can order electronics, vacations and clothing online. It is clearly time for the auto industry to enter the digital sphere," Allison continued.

In order to bring trust to the online experience, Zoom has developed a rigorous certification and merchandising process. Only high-quality pre-owned vehicles are retailed on Zoom, each hand-selected by a team of buyers. Each vehicle goes through Canada's most extensive certification process, covering 360 points and taking two-and-a-half hours, before it is considered 'Zoom Certified'.

Transparency is at the forefront of Zoom.ca's online experience. In addition to the full 360° spin of both the inside and outside of the vehicle, any minor blemishes are highlighted, along with key vehicle features. A free CarProof report is also provided online, detailing the full vehicle history.

For the first time in Canada, customers will be able to complete the purchase online from the comfort of their home or office. The average customer will be able to complete the process in 10 minutes, saving enormous time over current industry processes.

"Canadians seek three primary things when looking for a used vehicle: a good deal, clear, transparent pricing, and a quick, efficient process. Zoom.ca was developed to deliver all of these," Allison said.

Over eighteen months of development has gone into perfecting the Zoom.ca purchase process, which includes arranging financing, customizing payment terms, managing trade-in vehicles, and purchasing protections for the vehicle. The development required collaboration with several industry partners. Each have advanced their technology to meet the unique demands of purchasing a vehicle online.

Zoom also becomes the first automotive retailer to deliver vehicles to the customer's door. Transported on branded Zoom vehicles, the experience has been designed to be quick and easy. Delivery appointments are offered from early morning through most of the evening, six days a week, and appointment times are exact for customer convenience.

Test drives have also been revolutionized by Zoom. Customers are able to enjoy their vehicle for five days (or 500 km), to ensure they are comfortable with their choice. This gives customers a leisurely opportunity to get a feel for the vehicle, and to make sure it meets their needs. If customers are unsatisfied with their vehicle in any way, Zoom.ca will issue a full refund and pick it up for free, no questions asked.

Customer advocates are at the ready to assist customers with any portion of the purchase process, and to answer questions about this new way of buying a car. The customer advocates have been asked to act on the customer's behalf; there are no salespeople involved in the purchase process, whatsoever.

Zoom represents an investment of $12.5 million dollars, with over a hundred staff involved in the development of the website and associated processes.  "Zoom.ca has been a labour of love for many of us. We're looking forward to customer feedback that will enable us to finesse our offering even further," Allison shared.
