The Auto Channel Announces After 21 Years Online It Keeps Original Execs In Place
AUTO CENTRAL - August 17, 2016; After seeing the personnel change stories at other car sites in today's news, I thought it important to announce that The Auto Channel, the original independent digital car information and research network, has NOT made any changes or additions to its excellent and long term team.
Bob Gordon, president and co-founder said; "nowhere else in the online world can you find another team as talented, dedicated and hardworking as we have had here since 1995. As the original online multi media automotive consumer facing research and news website (and now TV network) our team continues to take pride in both our past and present global inventions and our everyday publishing and content delivery improvements.".
Marc Rauch co-founder and exec VP said; “it's unbelievable that our world first technology systems, our editorial and content presentation, our pioneering video efforts, web programming inventions, our online data presentation and our mater-of-fact streaming video and audio, have been unashamedly mimicked by virtually every other autocentric web site...as my wonderful Mother used to tell me imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Over the past 21 years as soon as we went live with a new feature or content element, within days it was copied by the deep pocketed investor funded big boys of automotive media. (thanks I think). But amazingly what the others have still not recognized is an editorial position on the most unarguably important subject in automainia, the replacement of gasoline (and all that, that means) by the common sense fuel Ethanol...I wonder why?”
Darren E., our senior programmer and web pioneer is the inventor of many world first online features including The Auto Channel's back end and content editing and publishing system (TIDE which Darren says is EDIT spelled backwards), which by the way is still in use every day 21 years after its debut (over the years we evaluated other programs but they were all wanting; not as robust, reliable or as easy to use). Darren still doesn't say much but lets his brilliant work continue to speak loudly for him.
Toni Steinhauer, the inventor of The Auto Channel's under-a-million-dollar online interactive database delivery system is still at it everyday, tweaking and improving and she continues to be amazed (and aggravated) at just how blatantly big money auto websites have mimicked every facet of The Auto Channel over all these years.
But we persevere and continue to build on our legacy of being the precursor of the modern website always online with firsts like: First INDY 500 to be streamed Live around the world, First live video of a new model introduction (Jaguar 1997 Jaguar XK8), First website to give it users a no cost access to both MSRP and the then important Invoice Price, and the First and still the best automotive website to "get" video and its importance for total communication of an idea or concept...these are just a few among a list too long for this article, but I'm happy to give you the list just e me bgordon@theautochannel.com.
Our founding technology team included University of Florida engineers who helped develop IBM's first online teaching effort, Bruce Hidaka-Gordon (along with co-founder Marc Rauch) led the way for the matter-of-fact delivery of video online, Steve Arnold our expert in mass distribution of data and broadcast guys who saw our vision of “one screen” and helped build the foundation for us get here...thanks.
The Auto Channel's cadre of dedicated independent journalists have more combined editorial experience than all of the deep pocket "sell not tell" car sites combined, which gives The Auto Channel an advantage of perspective and meaningful relevance in every editorial contribution, review and observation.
Gordon went on to say; "The Auto Channel Team's dedication, skills, savvy and experience go a long way toward helping The Auto Channel remain viable and allow it to modestly compete with all of the Wall Street funded anti-fair play Lead-Gen whores in our crowded and competitive landscape. “
We are now all hoping that our recent change over to "responsive and AMP" attributes for The Auto Channel's million plus pages of content will get Google to once again reward our editorial with its earned and deserved high SERP positioning, as it did way back when The Auto Channel was the undisputed number one auto web site in audience and revenue."

Here is something out of our warm and fuzzy file that we believe is still apropos today 20 years later; from the January 1997 edition of IGUIDE (TV Guide's online web site): We are frankly in awe of the breadth and relentless high quality of this all encompassing, multimedia automotive resource. If the information you seek has anything to do with a vehicle that rides on the road...you'd be wise to tune into The Auto Channel.
