SWANSBORO, NC – Four different drivers have visited Interstate Batteries
Victory Lane in the four Late Model races held at Carteret County Speedway,
proving parity at the Swansboro, North Carolina track.
If a fifth different winner emerges victorious on Saturday night, August 6th,
they will receive a $200 bonus from track owner Bobby Watson.
Carteret County Speedway opened on Labor Day Weekend in 2015 and Clay Jones
picked up the win in the track’s inaugural race over Jeff Oakley before a
sell-out crowd.
The 2016 season opened on April 30th, Chris Buns scored the victory in a
thriller over Joshua Yeoman. The third race at Carteret County, which was
held on June 18th saw another classic duel between Yeoman and Burns, this
time with Yeoman scoring the win. Tyler Matthews just recently became the
fourth different winner at Carteret County Speedway with his domainant
performance over Joshua Yeoman and Eric Winslow on July 6th.
The fifth ever Late Model race at Carteret County Speedway will be held on
Saturday, August 6th and, if the trend of different winners continues, the
winner will collect a $200 bonus on top of the $1,200 payout the race
winner will receive.
“We’ve had a different winner in every race and I want to see this
continue,?? track owner Bobby Watson said. “A lot of other tracks, the same
two or three drivers win every race. We’ve been very fortunate to have
four different winners so far and I want to see that continue so, if we get
a new winner on August 6th, I’m going to pay a $200 bonus.??
Having different winners in every race exhibits parity at Carteret County
Speedway, which is described by racers as a “driver’s track??. The track
has characteristics similar to Myrtle Beach Speedway in South Carolina and
the now-defunct Langley Speedway in Virginia – which are both favorites
among Late Model Stock Car and Limited Late Model racers across the region.
Tim Allensworth and Kenneth Mercer have made multiple visits to Carteret
County Speedway and are both seeking their first career victory at the
4/10-mile track on the Crystal Coast. They could be joined by a host of
other drivers looking to add their name to the list of winners at Carteret
County Speedway.
Along with the Late Model division, the August 6th race will feature racing
in the Street Stock, Mini Stock, U-CAR and Legends divisions. More
information about the race will be announce in the next few days.
Tickets for the race are $15 for adults and $5 for kids ages five and under.
