ATA Bolsters Resources for National Truck Driver Appreciation Week

ARLINGTON, Va., July 13, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, American Trucking Associations welcomes members from across all sectors of the trucking industry to explore the official 2016 National Truck Driver Appreciation Week website, featuring the new logo, tools for companies hosting appreciation events and customizable merchandise available for purchase.

"Truck drivers provide one of the most important services to this country – the timely delivery of critical goods – and the American people demand more and more from these hard working men and women each day," said ATA President and CEO Chris Spear. "As an industry, we want to recognize and thank drivers for the work they do and for making safety a priority."

This year's National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is September 11-17. ATA First Vice Chairman Kevin Burch is hosting ATA at the Jet Express facility in Dayton, Ohio, where America's Road Team Captains will appear live via satellite on morning shows throughout the country. Motor carriers and industry suppliers are encouraged to browse ATA's NTDAW Event Ideas and host appreciation events as a way of saying thank you to truck drivers and their families.

"People in the industry have tremendous respect for truck drivers and NTDAW gives us a chance to demonstrate that support while also expanding our message to people outside the industry who might not understand the high-level of commitment that these men and women have for their careers," said ATA First Vice Chairman Kevin Burch. "The best way to show your support for truck drivers is by driving safely on the highway because, at the end of the day, these drivers want to get home safely to their families, and they work hard to make sure you get home safely as well."

The official 2016 NTDAW logo can be downloaded on the ATA website. The site also offers resources ranging from state proclamation drafts to examples of editorials for trucking industry affiliates to enhance their driver appreciation events. ATA provides these resources to the industry to make it easier for passionate industry professionals to engage their communities in this important week, with a twofold goal of celebrating truck drivers and improving the industry's public perception.

New additions to this year's online store include a neon safety shirt, a durable, easy-to-carry search flashlight, and a lightweight, practical backpack. Popular items from previous years, such as lunchboxes, hats and banners are also available in the NTDAW store.

Sponsors for National Truck Driver Appreciation Week include Help, Inc., Velociti, U.S. Legal Services, Smart Drive and Trucker Path.
