TORC: The Off-Road Championship presented by AMSOIL returns to Chicago

CHICAGO, June 9, 2016 -- The high-flying truck racing action of TORC: The Off-Road Championship presented by AMSOIL makes its annual visit to the Chicago area this Friday and Saturday for Chicagoland Slam -- the second doubleheader stop in the 2016 national championship calendar.

"Our type of truck racing is like nothing else," said Ben Nelson, series director. "We're bringing out the best drivers on dirt for huge jumps, close competition, and back-to-back evenings of fender bashing, non-stop action the whole family can enjoy."

The Chicagoland doubleheader will feature pro racing in three classes: the powerful, four-wheel drive PRO 4WD trucks, the 900 horsepower rear-wheel drive PRO 2WD machines, and the fiercely competitive Atturo Tire PRO Lights.

In the top PRO 4WD class, longtime rivals Johnny Greaves and Chad Hord are tied in the points heading into Rounds 3 and 4. Keegan Kincaid leads the PRO 2WD standings, while Kyle Hart tops the Atturo Tire PRO Light class.

The series has trucked in hundreds of loads of dirt to transform the Dirt Oval at Route 66 Raceway into a purpose-built truck racing course that includes huge jumps, a challenging rhythm section and banked turns. Equipment for the Chicagoland Slam event is provided by Patten CAT.

Gates open both days at 1 p.m. for racing from Sportsman classes, with opening ceremonies for PRO racing at 7:30. Tickets are available in advance at www.torcseries.com/tickets, or in person at the gate.

Live HD digital broadcasts cover every moment from the start of the opening ceremonies to the final podium celebration, including exclusive digital extras – all provided free of charge on www.torcseries.com. Full television coverage of the 2016 TORC National Championship airs Thursday nights in primetime on the FS2 television network starting June 9. Check local listings.
