First-of-its-kind Vehicle Registration Auto-Renew service

Innovative registry service saves motorists time and the remembering

EDMONTON, May 2, 2016 /CNW/ - Since launching only three weeks ago, the Alberta Motor Association's Vehicle Registration Auto-Renew service has been a hit with members. Thousands of members have already signed up to let AMA automatically take care of their vehicle registration renewal, a regular (but oh-so-easy-to-forget) annual transaction each year.

AMA already offered e-reminders and online one-time renewals but this still meant that you had to come into centre or login online. AMA decided to help its members even further by doing all the remembering for them, every year.

The result is Canada's first Vehicle Registration Auto-Renew system; a simple, secure, convenient online service that automates your vehicle registration renewals each and every year.

AMA members can sign up online at ama.ab.ca in just a few minutes by providing their membership number, a credit card number, a few details about their vehicle like their licence plate number, and AMA will make sure their vehicle is registered securely on time, every time, for as long as they need it. Members can also sign up at any AMA centre in the province.

"We've been enhancing our online features to better support members. Families can already auto-renew their AMA membership, so it was a natural extension for us to help them auto-renew their vehicle registration," says Don Smitten, AMA's president and CEO. " We give them a heads up before processing the vehicle registration renewal payment each year and then we send them their licence plate stickers – it's really as simple as that."

Not only does this service deliver more convenience for members, it also helps protect them from getting a traffic ticket for driving with an expired registration – which carries a $310 fine.
