Change of leadership after almost 10 successful years
STUTTGART - October 23,2015: Having been at the helm of Mercedes-Benz Classic since the opening of the new Mercedes-Benz Museum in 2006, Michael Bock (59) is now leaving the Classic department of Daimler AG. With effect from 1 December, he will take over the management of Sport and Lifestyle Marketing at Mercedes-Benz.
Bock began his career at the Group in 1981. After various posts in truck and car sales, he took over the management of Motorsport Marketing in 1991 before subsequently heading up the Trade Fair and Events department from 1998. In 2006, Bock moved to his current position as Director of Mercedes-Benz Classic. With competence, great commitment and passion, he oversaw the strategic reorganisation of the department. Under his leadership, the new Mercedes-Benz Museum with over 700,000 visitors a year has grown into one of Germany's most popular museums and one of the world's best-visited manufacturer car museums. "After almost 10 years at Mercedes-Benz Classic, I'm leaving with a smile in one eye and a tear in the other. One eye is smiling because I'm handing over to my successor a department that is the industry benchmark in its field. There's a tear in my other eye because I'll miss all my colleagues, who show such passion and commitment in keeping alive this incomparable tradition of the brand," says Bock.
Bock's successor with effect from 1 December will be Christian Boucke (53), the previous Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Accessories GmbH. Boucke has been with the Group since 1994. After his time as assistant manager and later head of the Executive Office for Corporate Development, Christian Boucke assumed responsibility for regional strategies for cars before taking over leadership of the executive committee for international fleet sales and the used-vehicle business in 2001. In the last 10 years, Mercedes-Benz Accessories GmbH has grown into an innovative and profitable Daimler subsidiary under his professional leadership. "130 years of automotive history are inseparably linked with the story of Mercedes-Benz. I look forward to having the privilege of preserving that tradition. It's an exciting challenge to present the stories behind the history to a wide international audience, both at the Museum and at events," says Boucke in enthusiastic anticipation of his new role.
