What's New At Toyota Dealerships For 2016 - Minimum Advertised Price and Buy From Home

TORRANCE, CA -- September 11, 2015: Toyota Motor Sales (TMS),
U.S.A., Inc., held its annual Toyota division national dealer meeting
yesterday. The meeting, which was themed, “Ever Better”, was
attended by representatives from over 1,200 of Toyota’s U.S.
dealerships. Topics ranged from new vehicles, to additional investments in
North America, to the evolution of the retail buying process. Speaking at
the meeting were executives from Toyota, including President Akio
Toyoda.
Highlights from the event included:
Regarding the national dealer meeting, Bill Fay, Toyota Division group vice president and general manager commented, “At this year’s meeting we were able to address a variety of key topics we feel will help drive our success. Our goal is to make our vehicles, retail experience, and brand, Ever Better by putting our customers first. The Ever Better Expedition allowed us to hear first-hand from our customers about their experiences, which we are taking very seriously.”
Highlights from the event included:
- A window into the Ever Better Expedition.
With the mainland U.S. tour passing
through Las Vegas just prior to the meeting, its purpose of having Toyota
engineers experience U.S. roads to create ever better cars coincided with
the overall meeting theme.
- 12 new Toyota and Scion vehicles that have launched or will launch this fall
Products introduced included our
game-changing fuel cell vehicle, Mirai, as well as the exciting
new Scion iA and iM models, the upcoming RAV4
Hybrid, and all-new Tacoma and Prius models, among others.
- New technology.
The company provided details
of:
- “Toyota Safety Sense” active safety package: A comprehensive, affordable package of advanced features such as forward collision warning, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and auto high-beam headlights.
- Toyota New Global Architecture: An all new modular vehicle platform that will enhance vehicle performance, handling, styling, and efficiency for the entire Toyota line-up
- New retail concept.
Dealers were introduced to a new retail
concept called Toyota Express Purchase. When launched, it will allow guests
an expedited path to purchase and the ability to transact seamlessly
whether at home or in the Toyota dealership.
- Updated Toyota Marketing Covenant.
Toyota also introduced an update to its
existing marketing covenant that will take effect in January 2016. The
updated covenant includes guidelines on a Minimum Allowable Advertised
Price (MAAP), as well as clarification on advertising with emerging digital
platforms.
- Toyota’s ongoing investments in North America.
The company provided a recap of the
investments announced this year, such as its new Headquarters in Plano,
Texas, a new manufacturing plant in Mexico, and its new Production
Engineering facility in Georgetown, Kentucky.
- Added truck and SUV production.
Toyota has invested more than $3 billion
to expand N.A. production. New shifts and hiring announced to keep up
with consumer demand for all light trucks, including the Tundra,
Highlander, and new RAV4 and Tacoma models.
