BERLIN, Germany - June 19, 2015 - In the classic cars auction on June 26, 2015 the online auction house Auctionata will auction off an exceptional racing car legend: The original 1967 Brabham BT23-5, which was driven by the Austrian -German racing driver, Grand Prix winner and Formula 1 World Champion Jochen Rindt. With this vehicle, Rindt became the king of Formula 2 with nine wins in 1967. The car is restored and can be used for racing sport. In the livestream auction on www.auctionata.com collectors will now have the unique opportunity to get hold of this rare vehicle. The starting price is €180,000. Between 1967 and 1968, only 31 chassis of the BT23-5 were produced, 22 of them for the Formula 2. From 1964 to 1968, Jochen Rindt drove the Brabham in the private Brabham team of Roy Winkelmann, the most successful Formula 2 team of the sixties. Today, only three original cars still exist from this series. In the late sixties, no other formula car reached more wins than the Brabham BT23-5. This success was also due the extreme and spectacular driving style with which Jochen Rindt drove the Brabham to its peak. In 1970, Rindt had a tragic fatal accident in the training for the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. However, his points lead in this season was big enough to make him the only driver to ever posthumously win a Formula 1 World Championship.

Other highlights in this auction are a Lancia Stratos Group 4 from 1977 as well as four Ferrari models: A 308 GTB from 1979 with a mileage of 15,000 kilometers, a 550 Maranello, a 360 Modena F1 N-GT and a 308 GTSi. Porsche fans can also look forward to a rare “Eagle” 914/6 in unrestored condition from 1972. Only 13 pieces of this model were produced. The offered vehicle is the only one from the Eagle series with a 6-cylinder engine. The other 12 models were equipped with a 4-cylinder engine. Further Porsche models are a 911 anniversary edition from 1993, a 924 Turbo, a 911 S Targa and a 944 Cup. Another sought-after collector's item and restoration object is a DKW- Flow Line Special Vehicle.

The auction will be co-hosted by Johannes Hübner – a renowned expert for Oldtimer and with more than 30 years of experience in the field. Hübner is particularly known as a commentator at historical racing and rally events and as an organizer of the International Concours d'Elegance in Schwetzingen. He is also the author of various specialist books and the director of his own consultancy company. During the livestream auction, he will present the vehicles and comment on their conditions.

In addition, successful buyers will get an all-risks insurance for their vehicle. The cars are insured through Auctionata AG and its insurance partner BELMOT for up to six weeks after the auction with a convenient all risks insurance that covers cases such as engine and/or transmission failure or accidental damages.
