New Jaguar XE wins top prize in Telegraph Car awards

Praised for class-leading efficiency, comfort and driving fun

Jaguar XE also won Best Business Car category award

Latest in a series of major awards for the Jaguar XE

LONDON -- June 5, 2015: The innovative new Jaguar XE has been named Telegraph Car of the Year and Best Business Car at an awards ceremony in London. The news comes just weeks after XE won Best New Car at the Fleet World Awards and Best Large Car at the Diesel Car Magazine Awards.

The awards are voted for by Telegraph readers, with the overall Car of the Year chosen by the Telegraph Cars team from the list of winners.

Telegraph Head of Cars Steven Huntingford said: "The new XE competes in an incredibly competitive sector of the car market. And yet Jaguar has managed to combine class-leading efficiency with a blend of comfort and driving fun that none of its rivals can match. The XE is a fantastic achievement and a hugely deserving winner of The Telegraph's Car of the Year award."

The Jaguar XE is available to order with a range of all-new, highly efficient Ingenium diesel engines and a lightweight aluminium-intensive monocoque – both of which contribute to an outstanding cost of ownership highlighted by class-leading residual values (up to 45 per cent) and fuel economy as high as 75mpg.

Jaguar Land Rover UK Managing Director Jeremy Hicks said: “To win the ultimate prize at the Telegraph Cars Awards is a remarkable achievement for the new XE, particularly as it competes in the most established sector of the premium car market. Jaguar UK retailers and its first private and corporate customers recognise this is a game-changing car in the automotive industry, and now their confidence is endorsed by industry experts and Telegraph readers alike. This is a hugely important award for the Jaguar XE at the time it reaches its first owners in its home market.”

Jaguar Vehicle Line Director Kevin Stride, who accepted the XE award at the Telegraph Cars ceremony, commented: “For the team responsible for creating and delivering the Jaguar XE, I am incredibly proud. The work done to produce a benchmark car has all been worthwhile. This special award is proof that the XE combines great looks, a fantastic vehicle dynamics package and is a great value purchase.”
