Daimler Expands Global Employee representation

STUTTGART -- May 22, 2015: The global employee
representation of Daimler AG is becoming even more international. The World
Employee Committee (WEC) will have 23 members from 15 countries in the
future. The Group's Management and the employee representatives have signed
a corresponding agreement. Previously, the WEC represented Daimler
employees from six countries with 13 members.

Michael Brecht, WEC Chairman and Chairman of the General
Works Council of Daimler AG: "The Daimler Board of Management is
consistently positioning the Group on a global scale. We as employee
representatives are working with equal consistency towards effectively
connecting employees and their representatives worldwide, providing them
with access to Board of Management information and giving them a voice in
the company. Our company is aiming for the top position in revenues, sales
and earnings. Our goal is to also establish Daimler as Number 1 with
respect to employee solidarity worldwide and on the topic of social
responsibility."
Agreement reflects
internationalization strategy
Daimler AG employs around 280,000 employees from 150
nations at 172 locations on six continents. In the principles of social
responsibility agreed with the WEC, the company undertakes to protect human
rights and ensure standards for work and employment conditions that are
valid around the world. Suppliers are also expected to maintain conformity
with these standards.
"We are one of the most
attractive and admired employers in the world. We have also achieved this
standing because social and company responsibility, diversity and
internationality are supporting pillars of our corporate culture", said
Human Resources Director Porth.
"Daimler is an
icon of co-determination in Germany. With the WEC, the company is also
proving this internationally", said Gary Casteel, WEC Deputy Chairman.
"Together with the company we are working on implementing the new
regulations into practice."
The World Employee
Committee was founded in 2002 with a voluntary agreement between the Works
Council and the Board of Management of Daimler AG. The committee
facilitates worldwide exchange of experience and ideas among elected
employee representatives and ensures information and consulting with the
Group's Management on important international decisions. Countries outside
the European Union (EU), in which more than 1,000 Daimler employees are
active, are entitled to representation in the WEC; within the EU, a country
gets a seat and a vote if the company employs more than 5,000 people there.
Besides the WEC, the international employee representatives are also
organized in the European Works Council (EWC) of Daimler AG, which has 31
members from 13 EU countries.
