Company Climbs Two Spots over Last Year and Remains Sole Automaker on List

PLANO, TX -- May 15, 2015: DiversityInc named Toyota one of its Top 50 Companies for DiversityŽ in 2015, marking the company’s ninth appearance on the list since 2006. Toyota, the only automaker in the Top 50, placed at number 36 of over 1,600 companies who took the DiversityInc survey this year. Toyota moved up two spots over 2014, reflecting strong corporate diversity and inclusion initiatives, such as increased participation in cross-cultural mentoring programs and employee resource groups.

“Our company’s bedrock principles of respect for people and continuous improvement create a culture of collaboration and inclusion that gives a voice to every team member and embraces diversity”

“Our company’s bedrock principles of respect for people and continuous improvement create a culture of collaboration and inclusion that gives a voice to every team member and embraces diversity,” said Simon Nagata, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, Toyota Motor North America (TMNA). “We are proud to be a DiversityInc Top 50 Company for Diversity, even as we are deepening our commitment to being a D&I leader in a fast-changing marketplace.”

Now in its sixteenth year, the DiversityInc list recognizes businesses for their ongoing commitments to diversity in four primary areas: Talent Pipeline, Equitable Talent Development, CEO/Leadership Commitment and Supplier Diversity.

Previously, Toyota was honored as the “Top Company for Employee Engagement” by DiversityInc in October 2013. It has also received recognition as a Top 10 Company for LGBT Employees.
