Weekly winners' videos could be featured in the GEICO National Distracted Driving Awareness Video

WASHINGTON -- April 9, 2015: GEICO is asking young drivers ages 15 to 25 to share their reasons against driving distracted by entering a short video in the GEICO #BrakeTheHabit Contest. From April 1 through June 30, 2015, participants are invited to post their videos on Twitter with the hashtag #BrakeTheHabit and mention @GEICO to enter in the contest.

April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and GEICO is turning to the most at-risk drivers to help spread awareness about why they stay focused on the road. Participants can submit an original video up to 15 seconds long that creatively illustrates why they choose to focus on driving and not drive distracted.

GEICO will review new entries each week for creativity, clarity and content, and a $100 Amazon gift card will go to each weekly winner.

If you are one of the weekly winners, you'll be named a finalist and could become GEICO's #BrakeTheHabit Grand Prize Winner and earn an additional $500. Several finalists' videos could be featured in GEICO's national anti-distracted driving video on YouTube.

GEICO continues to focus on distracted driving because, according to the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration, an estimated 421,000 people were injured in car accidents involving a distracted driver in 2012. A dangerous problem, distracted driving continues to plague America's roads and put lives at risk, and GEICO hopes young drivers can help #BrakeTheHabit.
