PHOENIX -- April 6, 2015: Inilex®, the leading provider of telemetry solutions for vehicles, announced today its popular SkyLINK vehicle tracking device was instrumental in the arrest of two suspects in a carjacking, auto theft and spree of armed robberies in St. Louis. Using the SkyLINK device, police were able to pinpoint the suspects in real time – even as they were driving the stolen car – and surround them.

“What a great, fast and efficient product”

On March 31, two adult males approached a woman outside a residential apartment complex and demanded at gunpoint that she relinquish the keys. The suspects then allegedly committed several additional armed robberies and thefts using the SkyLINK-equipped car.

When police learned of the incident, they quickly contacted the 24x7 SkyLINK contact center where a SkyLINK agent gave police the stolen vehicle’s exact location, and continued to track the vehicle as the suspects drove it around. A pursuit occurred, and again using SkyLINK technology, additional police reinforcements were able to arrive on-scene and immediately surround the suspects.

“What a great, fast and efficient product,” said Sergeant Mark Sorocko of the St. Louis police department’s 3rd District Detective Bureau. “Without SkyLINK, we would not have been able to track and locate the vehicle so quickly. We also were able to use SkyLINK’s vehicle location history to investigate additional crimes possibly committed by the suspects.”

SkyLINK is an aftermarket vehicle theft-recovery device that integrates directly with local police to instantly locate a vehicle anywhere in the country if it is reported stolen. Unlike older vehicle-tracking devices, SkyLINK is able to provide real-time vehicle location information to all law enforcement agencies throughout the country.

“It’s rewarding to hear stories like this, where our technology not only helps recover a stolen vehicle, but helps capture criminals in the midst of a violent crime spree,” said Michael Maledon, CEO of Inilex.

Last year, police officers in Dallas used SkyLINK to locate and apprehend an Amber Alert suspect, leading to the safe recovery of a two-year-old in a stolen vehicle.

SkyLINK is primarily used to track stolen cars and has recovered more than $10 million worth of vehicles. Vehicle owners save thousands by avoiding deductibles and replacement costs, insurance hikes and loss of personal items, as well as the hassle of purchasing a new car.

SkyLINK is available through new and used car dealers nationwide.
