WALTON -- October 10, 2014: The HR team at Kia Motors UK Limited have won the prestigious CIPD People Management Award as HR Team of the Year at Grosvenor House Park Lane.

The CIPD is the professional body for Human Resources and people development, and received a significant amount of applications across all sectors of industry and commerce for this highly coveted award.

After being shortlisted, Kia’s HR team presented to a panel of judges explaining their contribution to the organisation. The judges then selected just two companies to be shortlisted – with Kia’s HR team winning the award. The CIPD mentioned Kia’s record scores from its staff survey, and how employee turnover has tumbled from 31 percent in 2006 to just three percent today.

The judges were also impressed with Kia’s UK engagement scores which reached 92 percent – the highest for any of the company’s global markets and nine percent above levels set by independent external benchmarking. The CIPD report shows how engagement at Kia Motors UK has gone from being an idea to a plan, and is now part of the organisations culture and strategic agenda. The teams focus on health and wellbeing through a ‘Kia Energy’ programme also received remarkable results.

Kia’s Head of Human Resources and Facilities Gary Tomlinson said “The HR department has played a critical role in developing and delivering an employee engagement strategy that supports and enthuses our employees to give their very best”.
