DCH Auto Group Charitable Foundation Debuts New PSA Commercial

don't text and drive

SOUTH AMBOY, NJ -- Sept. 18, 2014: The DCH Auto Group Charitable Foundation is pleased to debut a new public service announcement (PSA) video aimed at preventing texting and driving. "Remember When," the winning entry from DCH's teen safe driving awareness contest D3 2014 held last spring, is now on YouTube and the DCH Auto Group Charitable Foundation website and will be airing on cable systems in New Jersey, New York, and California beginning this fall.

The PSA, created by Chelsea Gale, a 2014 graduate of Old Bridge High School, NJ, aims to remind parents to set a good example for their children and young drivers by not texting while driving. Chelsea's PSA recounts a promise made to her as an infant: that her father would always protect her. The story ends when the daughter, now a teen, sees her dad texting while driving and asks the question, "why don't you protect me anymore?"

"Chelsea's PSA truly captured the essence of the D3 2014 competition," said Roy Bavaro, Executive Director of the DCH Auto Group Charitable Foundation. "It's a touching story and it resonates strongly with two target audiences – parents and teens."

D3 contest are teen safe driving awareness campaigns and contests for high school students held annually in DCH Auto Group's major operating areas: New Jersey, New York, and California. The task for D3 2014 contestants was to write a script for a PSA video that features teens showing adults how to be safe drivers. Since 2012, D3 contests have awarded over $60,000 in college scholarships to innovative students for their safe driving messages.
