Third “RALLY for ROADS” to Make the Case for Fixing the Highway Trust Fund

Washington D.C. May 2, 2014; Members of 13 transportation construction industry associations will come to Washington for the third RALLY for ROADS, the nation’s largest transportation funding advocacy rally on Wednesday, June 11th. As lawmakers turn their attention to the Highway Trust Fund, this year’s RALLY for ROADS is expected to the be the biggest yet.

“The nation is facing a critical moment. In only a few months the Highway Trust Fund will go bankrupt, a result that would mean lost jobs, failed projects and the increased deterioration of America’s roads and highways,” said Kerri Leininger, a RALLY for ROADS co-chair and the Senior Vice President of Government and Political Affairs for the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association. “The imperative that Congress and the Administration must act now to fix the Highway Trust Fund is why we are expecting such robust turnout for the RALLY and involvement from key Members of Congress.”

RALLY for ROADS is an event designed to promote the importance of fixing the Highway Trust Fund and maintaining our safety, quality-of-life and economic well-being. “Both Democrats and Republicans support strengthening America’s infrastructure. Now is the time for our leaders to act and this year’s RALLY will serve as the catalyst to preserving the fund for years to come,” said Pamela Whitted, RALLY for ROADS co-chair and Senior Vice President for Legislative and Regulatory Affairs at the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association.

RALLY for ROADS will be held on Wednesday, June 11th, 2014 at Union Square in front of the U.S. Capitol Reflecting Pool.
