Good2Go Introduces Cell Phone Safety Discount to Washington, D.C.

ATLANTA--April 29, 2014: Good2Go, specialists in offering minimum coverage auto insurance, announced that their Cell Phone Safety Discount is now available in Washington, D.C. Customers receive 5% off bodily injury, property damage, and collision coverage per vehicle when they install a device that blocks distracting phone functions such as text messaging, email, and Internet browsing. Full details are available at Cell Phone Safety Discount.
To receive the discount, drivers simply install a qualifying text blocking device in their vehicle and provide a copy of the receipt as proof of purchase via email, fax, or postal service. Text blockers are hardware/software that disables the data functions of the phone (e.g. texting, email, and Internet browsing) while the vehicle is in motion, allowing essential call functionality such as 911 emergency calls.
Washington, D.C. is one of the toughest locations regarding cell phone usage while driving. D.C. passed a Distracted Driving Act in 2004, banning all drivers from using cell phones unless equipped with hands-free accessories. Novice and school bus drivers have a stricter ban prohibiting cell phone use of any kind, with or without a hands-free accessory. All drivers are banned from texting while driving. These violations are considered primary offenses, allowing police officers to stop a car and issue a $100 fine for violations.
April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, which is dedicated to educating drivers about the dangers of texting while driving. To help raise awareness about this issue and to save lives, Good2GoŽ introduced the discount in the hopes that it would prompt others to take action and incentivize those who install text blocking devices to be safer, more responsible drivers
